How to Decorate with Indian Umbrellas for Weddings and Parties

A few colorful decorative umbrellas can give a wedding welcome area, haldi backdrop or party photo corner a clear focal point. Start with the space you have and the way guests will use it, then choose the number of umbrellas that fits.

Choose one area to decorate

An entrance, a backdrop behind a seated couple or a small photo corner can work well. Pick the main viewing angle before placing anything. Check the door swing, walking route and where guests will stand so the arrangement leaves room to move.

For a Navratri gathering, keep the decoration outside the dancing area. For a house party, give it its own corner rather than putting supports where people will reach for food or drinks.

Measure before choosing a pack

Our Indian wedding decorative umbrellas are approximately 24 inches across and have pack choices of 2, 5 or 10. Check the current listing for availability and the selected pack. Photos may show example designs rather than every umbrella in a pack.

Mark the umbrella positions on a sketch or take measurements at the venue. Allow space for the open shape and tassels, and check the overall width of the arrangement. Two umbrellas can frame a small focal point; a wider display may need a different layout or a larger pack. Choose from your measurements rather than the number used in an inspiration photo.

Repeat a few colors

Choose two or three colors already in the umbrellas and repeat them in your fabric backdrop, table linen or flowers. Leave some plain background visible so the embroidery and mirror details can be seen.

If you want a floral backdrop, browse garlands and backdrops and check each product's string length and pack count. Regular marigold garlands are 4.5 feet long, while other designs have their own measurements.

Plan secure placement

Decide how each umbrella will be supported before the event. Ask the venue or decorating team about suitable supports and approved attachment points. Check that the display is stable, does not block exits and stays clear of faces and moving guests. Keep fabric, tassels and decorations away from candles and other heat sources.

These are decorative umbrellas. Plan them as display pieces rather than relying on them for rain or sun protection. Store them dry and handle the trim gently after the celebration.

Check the finished arrangement

Take a photo from the guest's viewpoint. Adjust spacing, remove anything that blocks the pattern and check that the selected pack gives you the pieces you need. For questions about a design, pack contents or event timing, contact Aangan of India before ordering.
